Reiki is a healing technique that utilizes the laying on of hands.  The living body radiates warmth and energy.  This energy is the universal life force or Chi or as it is pronounced in Japan, where Reiki originated, Ki.  It is from this word Reiki originates.

    While everything in life has ki, the Reiki  attunement connects the receiver in an increased way to its limitless source.  Upon receiving the first attunement, the receiver becomes a channel for this universal healing energy.  Once the attunement has been given it is forever.  And after a few short minutes of the attunement process, the receiver of Reiki is given the gift that changes them forever in a positive way.  It creates a healer.

    The attunement does not give the receiver anything new.  It opens and aligns what was already a part of them.  It's very much like plugging a lamp in a home already wired for electricity.  Whenever a Reiki healer places their hands with the intent to heal, they have turned on the light.  Some masters say that Reiki is a remembering and if you receive Reiki training and this lifetime, it is because you have had it in previous lifetimes.
